A proud member of

School Council

We are the School Council
We help make lots of important decisions within the school. We help Mrs Mayman organise lots of fundraising and exciting events in school.
Keep watching this page for more exciting things that we have been up to!
What can we do to help?
The School Council are always looking for ways to help people around them. This year our members each wrote Mrs Mayman a letter about the different ideas they had. A lot of the ideas were based around our local community and we talked about how we can support our local elderly residents in Wrenthorpe. As a group we all decided to form a Pen-Pal scheme and write letters to our local residents to hopefully put a smile on their faces during these unprecedented times.
The children read their letter to Mrs Mayman and to the rest of the School Council group:

PENPALS
We designed and made Christmas Cards and wrote letters for our Local Residents
The School Council have thoroughly enjoyed writing special letters to our local elderly residents in Wrenthorpe. We sent them alongside the Christmas cards that the children in Reception made. We really hope that some of the residents write letters back to school so that we can continue our Pen-Pal scheme throughout the year.

We got some replies!
The School Council set up pen pals with the elderly and vulnerable in the community. They must have brought some real cheer to the homes in our area as the children were over the moon to receive lots of letters back from some of the residents in Wrenthorpe. It seems that the letters had a really positive effect on our community and made people smile during these tough times. Well done to all involved.

Our sewing week for the Australia bush fires…
Our School Council decided that they wanted to do something  worthwhile in support of the animals that have been affected by the horrendous bush fires in Australia. They, along with a few other volunteers, have given up their playtimes and lunchtimes for a whole week to sew some beautiful koala mittens. We will be sending these off to Australia in the hope that it will provide some comfort to these poor, vulnerable animals.
It makes me so proud to lead the School Council and be surrounded by such kind and caring children. It becomes even more of a privilege when the children have such wonderful ideas, to not just only support their local community, but to want to try and make a difference to the wider world. They are all such amazing ambassadors to the school.
